辣木籽形态特征
乔木,高3-12米;树皮软木质;枝有明显的皮孔及叶痕,小枝有短柔毛;根有辛辣味。叶通常为3回羽状复 叶,长25-
60厘米,在羽片的基部具线形或棍棒状稍弯的腺体;腺体多数脱落,叶柄柔弱,基部鞘状;羽片4-6对;小叶3-9片,薄
纸,卵形,椭圆形或 长圆形,长1-2厘米,宽0.5-1.2厘米,通常顶端的1片较大,叶背苍白色,无毛;叶脉不明显;小
叶柄纤弱,长1-2毫米,基部的腺体线状,有毛。
花序广展,长10-30厘米;苞片小,线形;花具梗,白色,芳香,直径约2厘米,萼片线状披针形,有短 柔毛;花瓣匙
形;雄蕊和退化雄蕊基部有毛;子房有毛。蒴果细长,长20-50厘米,直径1-3厘米,下垂,3瓣裂,每瓣有肋纹3条;种子
近球形,径约8毫 米,有3棱,每棱有膜质的翅。花期全年,果期6-12月。
辣木树龄约可达20年,树高可达7~12公尺(但可修剪成1至1.5公尺,以利家用式盆栽的栽种),树干直径可达20~40
公分,树皮为软木质,根有辛辣味,枝梢顶部交织形成2~3排羽状复叶。
小叶为椭圆形、宽椭圆形或卵型,无毛。花为圆锥形花序左右对称腋生,为两性花,有香味,萼筒盆状(萼杯状),
开花时向下向外弯曲;花瓣有五,白色或奶黄色,气味芳香。

经济价值
非洲辣木籽 辣木在中国广东(广州、儋县)、云南、**等地有栽培,常种植在村旁、园地;亦有逸为野生的,产崖县牛尾山大抱杠,生于杂林中。
其多数生长在热带年降雨量250~1,500 毫米的半干旱地区,而在年降雨量超过3,000毫米的热带湿润环境也能适应良好。辣木能适应砂土和粘土等各种
壤,在微碱性土壤中也能生长。喜光照,主根很长,因此能耐长期干旱。它的适宜生长温度是摄氏25~35度,在有遮荫的情况下能忍受摄氏48度的高
温,也能耐受轻微的霜冻。严寒可能使辣木的地上部分死亡,但是严寒过后,新芽仍可重新萌发长成植株。辣木通过种子或扦插繁殖,生长很快,幼苗
期若不进行剪枝,则**年就可以长到四公尺的高度,树干直径可达30公分。
因为其较为苛刻的生长条件,在亚洲种植的辣木,通常以树叶,根、茎作为其经济效用。而在非洲东部冈比亚及埃塞俄比亚等地原产的辣木籽,因
为与印度地区改良种的不同,种子也呈现出不同的形状。
